Pacto con el Diablo
$90.600,00
From the ashes of the Middle Ages, four prosperous kingdoms arise, each vying for greatness. Two are ruled by mere mortals, torn between their lust for power and the need to appease the Church; another is led by a sectarian who has already succumbed to temptation, and the last by the devil himself. Some crave resources to win. Others, pieces of your soul. Shall we strike a deal?
Description
Step into the world of Pacto con el diablo, a game crafted by Matúš Kotry, renowned for his celebrated work Alchemists, and illustrated by David Cochard. Designed for precisely 4 players aged 14 and up, this game promises sessions lasting approximately 120 minutes. Featuring mechanics such as hidden roles, resource management, deduction, and engine-building, Pacto con el diablo challenges players to negotiate wisely to maximize their points.
In Pacto con el diablo, there’s no single path to success. Each player will score differently and begin the game with varying resources, depending on their hidden identity. One of the game’s key challenges is keeping player identities secret, especially during the initial turns. To ensure anonymity and smooth deal-making, a free app scans each player’s personal chest, ensuring roles never mix throughout the game.
Throughout the game, players will strive to acquire essential resources like wood, stone, and wheat, as well as valuable resources such as marble and glass, along with coins to construct buildings, hire courtiers, and achieve significant milestones. You won’t always have all the resources you need, so you can strike deals with other players and even incur debts to cover your expenses.
While you manage your kingdom, safeguarding your reputation is just as crucial. Leading by example is essential to effective rule! Certain events and the construction of alchemy-related buildings can detrimentally impact your reputation. As if that’s not enough, after several rounds, a witch hunt commences: Suspicion of dark magic arises! Players will vote, and those receiving two or more votes will face interrogation. At this juncture, they must demonstrate the purity of their soul. Failure to do so (by revealing 3 soul fragments) will incur penalties.
During the trading phase, players can blind-bid resources for money. The Devil will tempt mortals with goods in exchange for a piece of their soul, while the sect leader readily sells theirs, gaining points by pledging body and soul to Lucifer. But beware of flaunting your success, as it might attract the attention of the Inquisition. Besides witch hunts, the Holy Tribunal also pursues forces of evil. Once again, players must reveal their souls to avoid the Inquisition’s wrath. They can also attempt to bribe their eminences… For a small fee, they might turn a blind eye. Lastly, mortals and the sect leader will try to guess their opponents’ roles for extra points.
Pacto con el Diablo is a deeply thematic game that also demands strategy. It’s a challenge that will captivate fans of Czech-style titles (such as Alchemists, Through the Ages, Lost Ruins of Arnak…). Striking advantageous deals is as crucial as wise resource allocation, all while managing reputation and keeping the Inquisition at bay. How far are you willing to go to keep your soul intact?
